Cinefest Film Festival

Congratulations to Miss Katie Gunning and her students, we have three films selected again for the Cinesnaps Film Festival.

Good luck to Henry Baker, Colin Ferreira, Tom North, Edward Baker and Max Cruse. The theme this year was 'Space' and each film offers a very different and creative take on the theme.

Red Moort Arts camp

We had our first Arts camp to the Red Moort Reserve at the end of last term. Year Ten students attended and they worked on developing creative works inspired by the reserve.

The ‘totems’ of the echidna, the black cockatoo and the red moort flower were chosen.

We have three costumes being created with costume designer, Mand Markey leading the students. Mand has been  working with Middle School on these costumes this week, there have been lots of cups of tea and ‘yarning’. These costumes will be showcased at the school exhibition later this term and at the Town Hall as part of the gARmenT exhibition.

We also developed an improvised play and characterisation of the totems. This was very much supported by Aunty Carol Pettersen who attended the camp and was very generous in sharing her stories and knowledge of country with us. Students used oxides to paint a set design for the improvised play that will evolve during the exhibition.

Many thanks to Mr Gavin Riches, Mrs Phoebe Duff and Miss Katie Gunning for supporting the camp. It is a wonderful site, though certainly cold at night, there was a heavy frost on all tents in the morning. It was lovely to see emus running in front of us and then disappearing into the bush as we departed.
