Entries Open - Tim Winton Award for Young Writers
The City of Subiaco is proud to present the 2022 Tim Winton Award for Young Writers. Back for it's 30th year, the awards encourage imagination, innovation and creativity. Entry is open to Western Australian school students in Years One to Twelve. Submit an original piece of prose writing, no more than 2000 words in length. Award finalists will be announced in mid-September and recognised at a presentation ceremony in mid-October. The best works entered in the award will be displayed in a public exhibition for one month at Subiaco Library.

Videography for Teens Workshop
The Vancouver Arts Centre are running a Videography for Teens workshop in Term Three. The workshop classes will occur on Tuesdays from 4.00pm to 5.30pm and are suitable for ages 13 to 18 years. Email arts@albany.wa.gov.au to book your spot.

The Kinjarling Albany Coast is like no other, boasting stunning natural beauty and unique features, rich biodiversity as well as an outstanding renewable energy potential. Help us to showcase these many natural and sustaining values of the Kinjarling Albany coast. The Great Southern Science Council is hosting a free-to-enter photography competition that seeks to inspire the exploration and celebration of our exceptional coastal environment and all it has to offer. The Science Council is supporting entrants with a second free photography workshop, see below for more details.
Capture the power of physics and maximise your camera’s (or phone's) capabilities to bring the extraordinary to light. This is a great opportunity to learn, practise, teach and inspire others. Plus there are awesome prizes to be won!

Performance by The Sydney Dance Company and the Australian String Quartet
The Sydney Dance Company and the Australian String Quartet will perform Impermanence on the main stage at the Albany Entertainment Centre on Saturday 30 July at 7.30pm.

National Tree Day - Community Tree Planting
The City of Albany is taking part in National Tree Day – Australia’s largest tree planting event, with the aim to plant one million native trees. Families are invited to take part in the community planting session on Sunday 31 July at Emu Beach.

With the relaxation of COVID restrictions the School is excited that families can once again join Kalgan Playgroup. STS Leeuwin II Coming to Albany in 2023
Sail Leeuwin have a special offer for Great Southern Grammar students to sail on the Leeuwin January 2023. This is separate from our in-school Year Ten expedition programme and is open to anyone at GSG who is interested.
