Aladdin

At Oakleigh Primary School we are currently rehearsing for a Year 5 & 6 production of a movie that you probably may have heard about before… Aladdin! This production will include everyone in Years 5 and 6, even if they did not get a part. Each class will perform a separate song that they have learnt and rehearsed during Performing Arts. There are also voluntary songs in the show, which anyone in Years 5 and 6 can join in with.

Students auditioned for parts in Term 2 and those who did get picked for a part have been rehearsing at recess and lunchtime, as well as practising with the class during Performing Arts lessons.

Aladdin is a story about a street rat named, you guessed it, Aladdin! He has three friends Babkak, Omar and Kassim who pick pockets to get food and money. In the Kingdom of Agrabah there is a princess that would give up her crown for true love, called Jasmine except that her father the Sultan is a stickler for the ancient ways.  Jasmine wants to marry for love and escapes the palace with the help of her best friends Isir, Manal and Rajah.

On the 22nd August, the 5/6‘s will take a take a trip to South Oakleigh Secondary College for their dress rehearsal. On 23rd August we will perform our first show at 7pm and on the 24th August we will perform our second show also at 7pm.

Tickets are now available to purchase from the Office (order form attached below).

Adult tickets are $15 and children's tickets are $10. Here is the cast list and each classes song.

Toys for Joy campaign in Foundation

As part of our unit of inquiry this term, the Foundation students are collecting pre-loved/broken toys. The Foundation students are taking part in The Toy for Joy campaign that is run in association with some BIG W stores. The campaign is aiming to save pre-loved or broken  toys from going into landfill and harming our environment.

We can collect toys that are made out of plastic, metal, plush (fabric) or electronic toys with no batteries. Unfortunately, we can can not receive wooden toys, books, board games, wooden toys, Play-doh, paint and slime, pens, pencils, crayons or paint brushes oversized toys such as bikes, scooters, skateboards and sports toys.

Donations can be left in the specially decorated box in the Office.
