All of our students have been busy making great art pieces for the show.  We will be displaying them around the school and everyone will be welcome to come and look at the pieces. We are looking forward to showing you all our hard work.

INTERSCHOOL SPORTS

Soccer girls won their first match 3-0 but ended up losing their second match 2-1 and not making it into the next round.  Some of the girls said they liked playing for our school in the final. It got a bit intense and rough but we had a lot of fun.

WHAT WE HAVE BEEN LEARNING

Foundation

In math we have been learning about how to tell the time and we have been learning to count to one hundred.  We learnt that addition is to plus two numbers together. We learnt the sounds of some of the letters. In PE we learnt how to skip by jumping over a rope.

1/2

In math we have been learning about rows and columns, so we identify them by skip counting and learning how to do repeated addition. In writing we have been learning about how to write a writing goal.

3/4

In math we have been learning Factors which are two numbers that we multiply to make a bigger number.  In literacy we have been doing  literacy groups where we are given a different job each time like reading a test from a Epic and answering questions about the text to expand our vocabulary.

5/6

We have been learning  about our wellbeing and how to take care of ourselves. Some strategies are meditation, breathing exercises and drawing. In writing we learnt about our 5 senses. In math we learnt about fractions and how to add them with different denominators.

LITSTEM

The program we are doing with Kilbreda is called LitSTEM. It is a combination of Literacy and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Technology).  The Year 4’s go to Kilbreda every fortnight, during Term 3 and get to complete experiments in the Science Lab. They have been learning about Exothermic reactions. This is where they make heat from a chemical reaction.  We are participating in this program to help strengthen our connection to Kilbreda and the community.  Sometimes there are also Year 9 students, from Kilbreda, that help out.

3/4 KEW TRAFFIC SCHOOL EXCURSION

Ava: We were living in a tiny world where cars were bikes and scooters. We learnt the speed we should be going  when we are “driving” our bikes and scooters.

Charlotte: When you are on your bike you have to go a certain speed. You could pretend to be pedestrians. We learnt that you had to stop at a crossing.
