Week 2

Blue Edge Program (Week 2)

This week we welcomed Justin Frankel into our Blue Edge team.  Justin is the owner and trainer at JF Personal Training, and he will be overseeing the fitness component of the program.  Justin will develop and run the weekly PT sessions, which include 30 minutes of physical training fitness circuits and team building activities.  Welcome, Justin!  

 

One of the topics explored during this week’s workshops was ‘Communication and Collaboration.’ Students participated in several team-based activities and games which enabled them to reflect on effective and ineffective communication strategies. Each week, some of our Blue Edge team members will share their feedback on the program and activities. Thank you to Summer and Charlie for this week’s reflection.

“The thing I am most enjoying in the Blue Edge Program is getting to know new people, especially Lauren and Rachel.”

“Absolutely! It is a great opportunity to work on all life skills.”

“A positive is playing lots of fun games.”

“Playing the game, Chinese Whispers.”

“I have enjoyed eating the free breakfast after our PT sessions.”

“The lesson I learnt was that if people are yelling, you can’t understand anyone in anger.”

 

Why would you recommend the program to others?

“It is good to work on fitness and improve your mental health.”

 

What is one positive about the program?

“Getting to meet Police Officers.”

 

What has been your favourite activity so far?

“Playing tag.”
