Sustainability At Scoresby PS

Last week, our Sustainables Leaders met to begin an audit of Scoresby Primary School’s sustainability practices. Our leaders will be going through the school over the next week, looking in classrooms and out in the yard to find those sustainable practices we have in place and where we can improve. Check out coming newsletters for more information on how Scoresby PS can become more sustainable!

ICT Leaders

Our ICT leaders are working very hard this term.  They have been asked to work on developing an ICT Skills Checklist to ensure that all students at SPS gain the required skills and knowledge to be able to function in the digital world.  These ‘digital natives’  are helping us understand the skills they have already developed, and areas they need to learn further, and add their student voice to the learning here at Scoresby.

In addition to this, they also helped to ensure that our new Sphero robots and the accompanying apps were up and running on our devices and able to be used for our robotics and coding lessons in the Year 3/4 area this week.

Finally, they will be developing their coding skills so that they can run a lunchtime Coding Club for our students in Term 4.

SRC

Our Student Representative Council (SRC) has been coming up with some wonderful ideas to help improve our school and build our school community.  They are working with their classes to decide what should go into our time capsule as part of our 150 Year celebrations, including a large display with every student's name and signature on it.  They are looking at hosting a Family Movie Night and running a Free Dress Day.

We are lucky to have such wonderful student leaders at our school.
