FOOTBALL MATCH ST ANNES VERSUS MAHOGANY RISE 12/8/2022 ROUND 4

SCORES:

St Anne’s: 3 goals, 9 behinds, Total 27

Mahogany Rise: 4 goals, 5 behinds Total 29

This week the team travelled to Eric Bell Reserve, Pines for a match up against another very good opposition.

We played 4 x 10-minute quarters and supplied three of our students to Mahogany Rise each quarter to even up the sides in numbers as Mahogany Rise only had twelve players.

Gak got the first score of the match booting a behind for Mahogany. Kingston was getting a heap of the footy and having some blistering runs with the ball.

In the second quarter we had Charlie kick a nice goal from a snapshot a fair way out as well as Kingston chiming in for a lovely running goal.

Harry was starring for St Anne’s with his first game in the jumper being exceptional. Cooper kicked a behind for Mahogany Rise and he had a huge celebration letting everyone on the field know of his skillful exploits.

In the third quarter Nick and Jack were gathering possessions at will, with Jack collecting the football on the wing dodging three opposition players bouncing and having a shot for goal which narrowly missed. Nick managed a hard ball get in the forward 20-meter area and bustled through a tackle to kick our first major for the quarter.

Hazel and Sai were playing well in the midfield and Seb was tackling ferociously. Griffin relished his move to full forward and managed to kick a behind which he reckons he will be able to go one better with next week and kick a goal.

Jos, Isaac, Sia, Jax, Alex and Patrick were all battling hard and did their bit to keep us in the game with great defence.

In the last quarter Sam was rock solid in defence doing a great job for the coach by stopping all forward thrusts and rebounding to our advantage. In the end we came up two points short of a win in an epic encounter. After the game we got to celebrate Nick and Cooper’s birthday by putting them into the circle and singing happy birthday after a rousing rendition of the school song had been sung.
