Principal's Message

Dear parents, students and the wider community,

Monday this week saw our 3/4 classes  go to the Zoo as part of their inquiry unit for this semester. The day appeared to be greatly enjoyed by all including the accompanying parents I spoke to.  I'm sure the students all slept well that evening.

Tuesday evening we held our annual Arts evening. It was a great joy to have families through the school enjoying catching up with each other and viewing the student's work. The show was a lot of fun and the audience was the biggest we have had here in my eight years. Thanks for your attendance and the many kind words staff have received on the night and since. Those words are much appreciated by the staff who do all they can to make our school a place of joy on top of a great place to learn.

On Friday our home and away senior sport continues for our Year 5 & 6 students. Our games will be played away against Seaford Park PS.  The following week is our School Closure Day. It was great to be able to watch for a short time our football and girls' netball teams play at the Pines Oval. Mahogany Rise only had 12 football players and we had 19. In the spirit in which the games should be played between primary schools 3 of our players played for Mahogany each quarter and they were swapped around. This firstly means more children are actually playing rather than watching and reinforces that sport should be fun. I know our players scored some of the points for our opponents and these were celebrated as much as achieving them for our own team.  Well done to everyone. Have a go and enjoy it- win or lose!

Next week is our annual Book Week with the book fair. On Tuesday we will have a bit of fun with our Book Parade and activity day. Always a day in the year to get excited about. Next Friday is our School Closure Day. The staff will be working on our planning, delivery and extension activities in Mathematics. Thank you for the arrangements families have made to accommodate this.

With the Feast Day for the Assumption on Monday our children have had a real focus on Mary this week. The role of Mary as mother of Jesus is an easy one for our students to have affinity with and how they see Mary will be largely shaped on how they see their mums. You may like to pray the "Hail Mary" with your children this week in appreciation for all the wonderful things mums do in a family.

God Bless and stay well
