What an amazing start to Term 2 it has been in Technology! Thank you to all the students in the Technology - Food electives for preparing a delicious assortment of food for the VCAL students to sell on Athletics Day.
In the Food Technology elective, students have been producing a variety of dishes that have used a range of processes to prepare their ingredients and then select appropriate methods to cook their dishes. It has been wonderful to see the students work collaboratively to prepare and serve their products to achieve outstanding results!
In Sweet Desires, students have been comparing homemade versus commercially prepared pastry making Apple Turnovers and Apple Pie.
Students made food-processor sweet shortcrust pastry for their Apple Turnovers, and then designed and produced their own Apple Lattice Tart/s which all look very appealing and tantalised the tastebuds with the delicious aroma.
The Year 3/4 have been outstanding in their attitude to learning in Food Technology this term.
They have excelled in preparing savoury pinwheels, Breakfast scones and Rock Cakes.
They have been learning to use the rubbing-in method, and combining ingredients to bake in the oven to produce their amazing products.

The Foundation and Grade One students have been developing their knowledge and understanding of how to sew. They have been using wool to sew their name or initials onto rubber matting. It has been wonderful to see the students persist with their learning and achieve success.
The Grade 2 students have been busy in the school garden and caring for the chickens. This week students planted some seeds which they will look forward to watching them grow, to then plant out in the Primary vegetable garden.
The Year 7 Agriculture students have been placing the weed mat down ready for the wicking beds. The Year 7 students are also responsible for ensuring the chickens are fed, and cared for each day. Each morning students collect the food scraps from the Food Technology room and around the school, to feed the chickens. They then collect the eggs and date them ready to sell or use in the Food Technology lessons. If you would like to purchase farm fresh eggs, please contact the Front Office at school.
At Edenhope College, Breakfast Club is available every day from 8.35am. All students are encouraged to come along and have some breakfast in preparation for the day ahead. Students are able to have a bowl of cereal, hot milo, fruit cups, fresh apples and carrots. Students may also grab an apple, carrot or fruit cup to have at fruit time or recess. If families would like a Breakfast pack please contact the Front Office.
Thank you to Foodbank Victoria for providing the School Breakfast Clubs Program and enabling students to Eat, Learn and Succeed.

The best students at Edenhope College introduced a pizza day to help bring a smile to the students’ faces.
We organised order forms which attracted many students to eat our delicious pizzas.
We offered 3 different varieties including Hawaiian, Supreme and Margherita.
The Food Technology room was going full steam ahead with all the orders being prepared.
There were different aspects to preparing the pizzas, so as a class we divided the tasks to ensure that all the pizzas were ready on time.
We all worked well together by using our skills and knowledge to prepare the pizzas.
Once all the 64 pizzas had been prepared we all felt accomplished because we all know that we worked together as a team and achieved success.
