Dear Parents,
Our Trade Expo held last week was outstanding, with many engaging and innovative industry stands on show for our students. Lots of students attended – several hundred – and their reports were extremely positive. There was a real air of optimism about training and employment opportunities, and excitement created about changes in industry and public investment that are creating opportunity in Victoria. An example is the proponent for North-East Link where there are many new opportunities for young people in major infrastructure projects. Our students behaved impeccably and interacted very well with exhibitors. Thanks especially to our Careers Counsellor, Krystal Bussell, and to all who contributed to making the day the great success that it was.
Wednesday the 26th is National Sorry Day, and the beginning of Reconciliation Week. National Sorry Day acknowledges and raises awareness of the history and continued effect of the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from their families, communities and culture. National Reconciliation Week celebrates and builds on the respectful relationships shared by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and other Australians. The student leadership team will mark Sorry Day for all students with an out of uniform day where students may wear indigenous colours, Red, Yellow and Black or a combination of these. The week will also feature a range of student activities to raise awareness of this important symbol of awareness.
A reminder to the families of year 10 students and families that Year 10 immunisations will occur on the 18 of June. Details of arrangements for receiving these will be communicated to students, families and staff next week.
