Visual Arts

This week in Visual Arts our beautiful Foundation students created Blob Monsters. At first we each drew a big blob, then chose a warm and cool colour pastel to colour our blobs in. We then added yellow, red and blue inks as these are the primary colours. With straws we blew the inks across the pages to the edges of our blobs and made our monsters come alive by adding arms and legs, big smiles and eyeballs.

Also this week in Visual Arts, our Level Two students were inspired by the work of French Artist, Henri Matisse. We learnt how Henri was well known for his use of colour and often used paper cut outs of what he termed fluid and organic shapes. Henri liked to arrange these shapes, often inspired by leaves and plants in nature on his page. He would then draw around them, as he understood by doing this he was learning how to look more closely at nature for his inspiration to later develop paintings. We completed some of these works following his paper cut out styles.
