WELLBEING

Tug of War

At the end of each term the Year 6 Community Leaders-Alfie C, Poppy B, Leo S and Siena C have been helping me to run a fun event on the last day of term.

This term we warmed up with the dance song “Hokey Pokey” and then had a house tug of war!

It was a lot of fun, it brought out the competitiveness in many but also created a lot of laughs and fun!

WOW Awards

Wow Awards are awards that our Semester 1 SRC leaders created. They have continued to be a great part of building the core values and school expectations of our students. Student SRC leaders decide on what value or expectation they would like to see more of in the school and that becomes our WOW award focus for the next two weeks. The students love the recognition they receive for showing these values and expectations right across the school. The awards are usually announced at assembly.

Well done to all students who have so far received an award! This week's award is for “Compassion”.

Our SRC Leaders who meet fortnightly will decide the focus for the next two weeks in our next boardroom meeting on Friday.

House Point winners for Term 3!

In each classroom at St James all students participate in the House Points Challenge. House Points are awarded by classroom teachers for showing many great skills including: listening, helping others, inclusiveness, initiative, respect and responsibility. At the end of each term the House Points for each classroom are added up and the winning House receives a reward. Congratulations to Conquest-Gold House students who won the most points for Term 3 and received a “free time” golden ticket. (with restrictions of course!) as voted for by the SRC Leaders.

A Message to Parents

Hello Parents

We are sending out an open invitation for a prayer/reflection group. The plan is to read the Gospel for the following Sunday, to listen and have some reflective questions to extract the meaning it has for us in our daily lives. Then we can break off into small groups of 4 or so to share a word or phrase that jumped out for you and how that is calling you on in your faith journey.

We think this will provide some valuable time to connect with other parents and space to grow in our faith.

We plan to gather together every second Friday starting 21st of October at 2:45pm in the Library.

The other dates are:

Friday 4th of November

Friday 18th of November

Friday 9th of December

Please express your interest by emailing Corey: cpayton@stjamesbrighton.catholic.edu.au or Emma Herbert : eherbert@stjamesbrighton.catholic.edu.au
