2023 Grade Structure

Albany Rise Primary School has agreed (through consultation) with the grade structure planned as outlined below. In 2023, we are planning smaller class sizes across all year levels. Our Class Formation policy provides for the option of ‘straight’ grades and composite classes based on student numbers and dynamics. ARPS recognises that straight classes (where possible)  remain the preferred model of the broader community.

In 2023, we anticipate a slight change to the timetable model, with recess break to be taken slightly later in the day. More information about the new timetable will be provided after our School Council meeting later this month. The new collective bargaining agreement that commenced on July 25th will require the school to increase time with specialists in 2023 and 2024, with an additional specialist session planned for 2023.

In 2023, the following structure will be in place:

1 x Foundation (Prep)

1 x Year 1

1x  Year 1/2

1 x Year 2

1 x Year 3

1 x Year 3/4

1 x Year 4

1 x Year 5

1 x Year 5/6

1 x Year 6

Performing Arts (50 mins)

Physical Education (50 mins)

Chinese Mandarin (50 mins)

STEM (50 mins)

Visual Arts (50 mins)

Intervention & Extension Programs including the Tutoring program.

In addition to this structure, we will again support classrooms with additional integration aides to ensure that we have as many adults in learning spaces as possible. The average class size across the school will be approximately 21.4 students. We are hoping to ensure that our long term average into the foreseeable future remains around this level.
