10 October was World Mental Health Day 2022: Mental health is a valuable aspect of our health, including an individual’s emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing. Every year, World Mental Health Day is observed on October 10 globally. The day is celebrated to raise awareness about mental health, its significance and its importance. World Mental Health Day is an opportunity to talk about mental health, how one can look after it and how important it is to talk about mental health. The day urges us to eliminate the stigma and advance awareness and treatment of mental illness. Mental health is often viewed as taboo. We, as individuals, need to start having conversations about our health, specifically mental health. Just as physical illness shapes our lives, mental illness shapes our lives as well. It is essential to take care of our mental health and just by taking a few steps each day from our busy schedule, we can make a difference. Good mental health creates a happier and healthier place to live in.

Mental well-being: resources for the public (who.int) The W.H.O. has produced an illustrated Guide called ‘Doing What Matters in Times of Stress’ to download. It is a stress management guide for coping with adversity and aims to equip people with practical skills to help cope with stress. A few minutes each day are enough to practice the self-help techniques. The guide can be used alone or with the accompanying audio exercises (different languages included).  Informed by evidence and extensive field testing, the guide is for anyone who experiences stress, wherever they live and whatever their circumstances.
