Our Year 12 class of 2022 entered the College grounds for one last time as students, for the last day of Year 12 has arrived!
The Year 12 students started the day at 8 am for the Year 12 breakfast which gave them an opportunity to reflect on their time at the College. This was followed by the Year 12 Academic/ Prize awards ceremony which was held in the gym, with students from Years 6 to 11 being present. Afterward, the Year 12s walked the Guard of Honour to the Chapel with the College community cheering them on. A final Chapel service and morning tea was held with the Year 12s and their families.
Please see below the extract from the speech this morning.
Today we celebrate the academic and spiritual growth and success of our students and share together the celebrations of the class of 2022. For many of our students, this journey started 13 years ago in 2009 on this campus.
Whilst for many, this can be seen as the end, it is merely the beginning. Today starts the beginning of a new chapter. For the class of 2022, the decisions made over recent years will open many doors for the future. The beauty of this is that for the people here today your future looks bright. Many doors remain open.
Your parents value education and that is why you are here. Seize the day and make the most of your opportunities. Make good choices, look after one another, and above all else be true to yourself and remember - that success looks different for everyone. Treat others the way you want to be treated and take responsibility for your actions.
On behalf of the GNLC staff, I want to thank you for allowing us to share this journey. For GNLC staff this is a calling that we take very seriously, and I want to thank you for allowing us to be part of this chapter. I am confident that we have given you the skills and values to navigate life, post-schooling.
Now is the time to go and make us all proud. More importantly, make yourself proud. For the ATAR’s students, the job is not done. Continue to work hard and prepare for your exams as you are the author of your destination.
Always remember that you never actually leave GNLC – you simply stop attending every day.
