What: Careers with STEM Healthy Soils Competition

Who: Year 7-10 Students with an interest in Science, Soil, Agriculture, Climate Change, Conservation and creative solutions to real world problems.

When: Open now, register by 4 Sept and submit entry by 25 Oct, 2022.

More info: healthy soil plays a key role in our food security, health, clean water, eco services and climate. Yet healthy soil is an underrated resource. To enter this competition, simply come up with a compelling way to explore the wonderful world of healthy soil and highlight why it's so important to agriculture and climate. Be creative! Who: Students in Year 9 - 12 interested in finding out more about careers and pathways connected with the multitude of opportunities associated with cyber security. Also those keen to improve their skills and awareness with regards to personal privacy.

More info: La Trobe University, Quantum Victoria and Cisco Network Academy have partnered together to help students develop skills and awareness in personal privacy and cybersecurity. With six programs onsite or online to choose from, why not encourage students to test their skills in a cybersecurity escape room, engage with a ‘Genius Armoury’, learn the basic tools in an introduction to cybersecurity and more.

The aim of this competition is to encourage high school students who have a keen interest in audio and music production to further develop their skills and to push the boundaries on creativity. What: JMC Canvas Songwriting Competition

Who: JMC Academy is proud to announce our first ever songwriting competition for students across Years 9-12. The aim of the competition is to highlight the talent of high-school songwriters from across the country and to showcase the creativity of young people.

Applications are open for the 2022 Parliament of Victoria work experience program. This program provides an opportunity for Victorian secondary students to undertake a one-week placement in either the Parliamentary Sitting or Parliamentary Services program in Term 1 or Term 2 2022. 

  • The Parliamentary Sitting program is offered in sitting weeks and is suitable for students interested in politics, economics and/or legal studies. During this placement, students will work with staff who directly support the sittings.
  • The Parliamentary Services program is offered in both sitting and non-sitting weeks. During this placement, students would work with staff from their nominated professional service area that supports the day-to-day business of Parliament. These areas include; human resources, learning and development, finance, information technology, facilities management and maintenance, community engagement, broadcasting, and hospitality.

More info: The University of Melbourne Student Union is running their annual VCE Summer School for 2023 Year 12 students. The 2-week program will be run mainly on-campus. Students will be able to get a head start on their studies, develop study skills, and receive tutoring for their Unit 3-4 subjects. 

Current Year 11 VCE students are invited to express an interest in participating in the program by filling out an expression of interest form. Official registrations will open late 2022. 

Regional students can apply to live on campus during the program for a small fee.
