Welcome to the 1/2 Dragonflies yearbook! How exciting it is to be able to create a yearbook for our class?
The Dragonflies are so excited to be able to share their ideas and thoughts about their class and the time they spent learning this year. It has been an amazing journey together and we all are leaving this year filled with new knowledge, memories and experiences! We can definitely say that we have learned so much this year!
Throughout the year we had learned a great deal about different topics. In term 1 in our literacy topics, we covered recounts and procedural texts. Then, in term 2, we learned about narratives and persuasive texts. In Term 3, we explored explanation and informative texts. We also introduced poetry. In term 4, we continued more with narratives and we also learned about biographies. We continued with poetry and we have created some fun poems that have been shared for your reading pleasure below.
Some samples of our poetry unit:
My dog
One day my pet
had a bath and got wet.
So we tried
to get him dried,
then he sat on my lap
and decided to have a nap.
By Alana
I am fantastic
Today I went to gymnastics
and I did some flips.
I found out that I am elastic.
When I was done,
I felt FANTASTIC!

The Silly poem
I told mum I found a bat
mum said, "Get your hat".
Then I stepped on the mat,
and I found a cat.

At the park
I wanted to go to the park
my mum said, " Be careful of the shark"!
I thought, that's a bit silly
as my friend Billy
said, "Wake up Zak, you're dreaming"!

Maths
In our maths units, we covered a variety of topics over the year. We all enjoyed learning about place value, addition and subtraction, collecting and interpreting data, multiplication and division, fractions, telling time, using a calendar, 2D and 3D shapes and their properties, length, volume and capacity. Throughout the maths lessons , the students were exposed to open ended tasks and used problem solving strategies, like drawing a picture, using materials, acting it out, working out backwards, etc. They have come a long way this year and we are all very proud of ourselves!
Here are some pictures to show how great we are!
Addition, use of materials to help us add!
Calendars
Length and comparison of lengths
Telling time
Fractions using play-dough
Making a paper container to explore capacity
What is your most memorable moment of 2022?
This are our students in 12D! :)
