What is happening in the Art Room....

Foundation students have have finished their mixed media hyacinths. They used coloured paper and tissue paper to make hyacinths and used paint rollers, sponges and blue paint to create the background. They gained experience in applying glue with a spatula and learned that less glue is better when working with paper. The students are very excited to take their hyacinths home this week.

Students in Grades 1 and 2 have explored the work of author and illustrator Eric Carle. They examined his use of collage to illustrate his books and had a look at the way he depicts animals. Students drew an animal of their own choice and are using paper collage to complete their pictures.

Grade 3 and 4 students are starting a new project for which they will design and create a creature using clay.  This week the designed their creatures and brainstormed what they know about skills and techniques used when working with clay.

Grade 5 and 6 students have been completing their one-point perspective drawings of a city landscape. They used the art elements form and line to create depth in their drawing. Students used grey lead pencils to sketch and black fine liner to complete their work. Some students chose to colour in their drawing upon finishing.
