Welcome to our new members and thank you to all members for volunteering their time. Without the contribution of such committed staff and parents we would find it difficult to achieve such great things at our school.

Student Accident Insurance

It is important for parents to note that neither the school nor the Department of Education provide a whole-of-school insurance policy. As the Principal I am obliged to remind parents or guardians that:

  • Parents or guardians of students, who do not have student accident insurance, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance or transport as well as any other transport costs; and
  • Parents or guardians can purchase insurance policies from commercial insurers. We do not endorse any commercial companies but we will forward home any promotional materials.

We also do not hold insurance for personal property brought to schools and we have no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property.

Reminder to Parents

A reminder to parents that netball skirts, legging o their own (allowed under dresses) and skorts are not part of the Rollins School Uniform. Please  refer to the Rollins Uniform Policy listed on our website. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Oval Opening

We finally made it- the formal opening of our new synthetic oval and outdoor STEAM room. We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather for the night. Our special guests were very impressed with the final outcome of our upgrade and the quality and poise of our student leaders when delivering their speeches. Steve McGarrigle was extremely touched and humbled by the extent of the project and the fact that it had been dedicated to him in honour of his 18 year leadership of Rollins. He has sent a heartfelt letter to the staff and Rollins School Council. I have placed it on the notice board outside the entry door for parents to read. Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved. Special thanks to  Erin McGill and Gary Hindle for the many hours they put into organising this night. A very special thanks to Steve Posterino who again volunteered his time to come and video this event and to Silvana Trajanovska who compiled a video showing all stages of the oval build. Great job everyone and our sincere thanks.

School Photos

Reminder that Rollins school photos will be held on Friday 20th March. Further information and forms will be distributed in the coming weeks.

Meet and Greet Interviews

Many thanks to the parents who attended last night’s Meet and Greet interviews.  This was a great chance for parents and teachers to work together to maximise the learning outcomes of our students. A huge thank you to our teachers who worked all day and then organised their family life around our interview schedule.

Attendance

Rollins Primary School recognises that being at school on time and attending every day contributes towards a student's learning and that maximising school attendance enhances academic outcomes.

We take attendance very seriously at Rollins PS and have a goal to have as close to 100% of student attendance as possible.

Principal's Pondering

A Growth Mindset message...

Research has explained a growth mindset as ‘a willingness to confront challenges, viewing failure as a springboard for growth, and a passion for learning. Not surprisingly, this type of mindset is strongly linked to greater happiness and achievement in life.’ Children who are happy, comfortable, safe and confident have a greater outcome with learning and socialising.

Here’s a child friendly video as made by one of our communication apps, Class Dojo, that explains it brilliantly. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zrtHt3bBmQ
