College Captains at McKinnon Secondary College
On the 30th of July, the BSC Captains for 2019 visited McKinnon Secondary College where they met to discuss learning culture. These visits between neighbouring schools allow students to experience what learning cultures look like at different schools and reflect upon the culture they want to see built here at BSC.
Payments for the Year 12 Graduation can now be made on Compass.
International students are to make card payments to the General Office.
Final date for payment is Monday 2nd September, 2019.
THERE WILL BE NO PAYMENTS ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE.
Earlier this term, BSC Year 10 students welcomed Zack and Nina, two IB Diploma students from Albert Park College. The students visited our campus to present on their experiences starting this new program. The IB Diploma is a two-year international qualification that is offered to Year 11 and 12 students at BSC and over 4000 other schools in over 150 countries. Around 60 of our students heard all about the challenges and rewards of undertaking the program as an alternative to the VCE. Nina reflected on why she chose the IB, discussing the broad opportunities this international qualification opens up to young people. IB students become confident and independent learners by developing strong time management and study habits. While not minimizing the academic rigor of the IB Diploma, Zack also discussed his development outside regular subjects through Creativity, Activity and Service projects (CAS) and research for the Extended Essay, compulsory parts of the Diploma. Nina and Zack were both comfortable studying Beginners Spanish as their compulsory second language - this was pleasing news for our students as it is also the second language we plan to offer. BSC students Isabel Overhill, Hamish Kirkpatrick and Cassidy Jensen-Muir were welcoming hosts for the visiting students from Albert Park College. The presentation was a highly informative experience for our students as we introduce the IB Diploma to Year 11 students in coming months.
