A thought about wildlife protection
Last Thursday, Janet from the AWARE wildlife protection came to our school to present to us about the work they do, the wild animals they saved and to instruct us on how to respond to injured wild animals. Wildlife belongs to nature so rarely do we encounter them in our busy lives. However, the moment we meet them, and how much we help, could be a matter of life-and-death to these vulnerable creatures. They frequently become victims of impacts with vehicles, pet attacks or the loss of habitat. After the passionate speech of Janet, I understand the need for our actions, like simply delivering them to the vets who would treat them free of charge, and the devastation that loss of natural environment has, which endangers their existence. I appreciate the work that Janet and her team have done and hope that more people will be 'aware' and more wild animals will be saved and protected.

HELP NEEDED FROM PARENTS
Our first step will be planting a vegetable garden out the front of the school. We are looking for any parents with experience in planting a vegetable garden who would be able to help us begin the project. Please let Ms Boyd know if you are available to help by emailing her at boy@brightonsc.vic.edu.au
Thanks, Sarah Black, Yr 11
