PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Podbury Marshall Building Official Opening Event

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Community Members,

On Friday last week, we held the formal opening of the new North Block, which was named the, “Julie Podbury and David Marshall Centre.”

It was a wonderful event, which was attended by Mr Tim Richardson, Parliamentary Secretary for Schools, James Newbury, our local state MP, Ms Georgina Oxley, Mayor of Kingston City Council (and Brighton Alumna) Julie Podbury, David Marshall, Tania Madjaric-Grierson College , Council President, other College Councillors, and family and guests.

Mr Richardson officially opened the building, and the wonderful service of Julie and David was recognised by all. It is fitting that the building is named after this school’s longest serving principal, and longest serving College Council President, whose vision and drive established this facility.

The event also showcased the talents of the college string quartet, Olivia Lim, Ethan Badcock, Julia Schiavion and Isabielle Overhill, who performed beautifully for the official party.

The opening was followed by a tour of the new facility, and Mr Richardson was most complimentary about the building, our students, and the work of our staff.

My many thanks go to all those who helped with the event, in particular, Mr Gargano, Ms Angelidis, Mr Varney, Ms Bradsworth, Ms Higgins, and the canteen for providing a delicious morning tea.

There is no doubt the school has made great leaps in terms of facilities, which are now on a par with any school in our district.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Richard Minack

Principal
