School of Wonder
There was a buzz of excitement in the School of Wonder yesterday as children returned to
onsite learning after being away from friends and Learning Mentors for more than eight weeks. As children settled into learning, they quickly demonstrated that the values learnt at St Anne’s: respect everyone and everything, always do our best and help others succeed, had not been forgotten. It was a delight to see children reconnecting with friends, inviting others to join in play, sharing equipment, taking turns and listening respectfully while sharing experiences of distance learning and holidays.
Children brought to school projects completed from last term and some had the opportunity to present their work to the class. The habitat project presentations produced lots of discussion, wonderings and a sense of celebration and achievement. Learning Mentors look forward to continuing the sharing of projects over the next week and continuing the learning journey where children can be together to collaborate, think, problem solve, create and have fun learning.

I came up with the words in my story because I tried really hard to think about what would match the picture. My story is about my favourite toy Tilly and she goes on adventures with new people and she makes new friends. My mum helped me take the photos and type up my story. I enjoyed making this story so much. This is the first of many books in the series. I loved sharing my work with Kara during distance learning. She loved my stories!

I have made a series of Licky books because I wanted people to know about the character, Licky. Licky is a black Persian cat. Licky makes friends and they play together and have fun. I have loved writing about something that interests me and my mum and dad were very excited when I’d start a new book! It’s been fun sharing these stories with Kara during distance learning. She helps us with our writing and to get better.
This week in Visual Arts the School of Wonder (SOW) children have been focusing on the art style 'still life'. This style involves observing and then drawing an object in its exact true form. Children were asked to select their favourite toy and then carefully draw it whilst copying the details, dimensions and colours. Here are some examples of artworks completed this week.
