Construction Update

College reception area transformed
We finished last term with our open reception area that we have been used to since St Anne's College opened, and returned this week to a very different layout. The original area has now been enclosed and will be used as an office. We have made temporary provisions for our reception desk and area until we transition into the new building stage next year. It was certainly a hive of activity, planning and coordination, and we are grateful to the whole team who made it happen during our school holiday period, avoiding any interruptions to our operation.
On top of this, the past two weeks have seen the majority of the brickwork and timber facades being completed, timber ceiling inserts installed and taking shape, plastering, painting, electrical fit-off, car park lighting pre-work, and the list goes on. Today saw the delivery of some of the front entrance canopy steelwork and last week all of the roof sheeting was rolled on site in continuous 30 metre lengths - so get ready to see that being stood up and making its bold presence. Our project timeline remains on track and we are so grateful for the energy and professionalism the team is giving to ensuring we deliver this stage ready to welcome our 2021 school year.
Muddy site slows work but great progress made
Richard Jarvis commented at our sports field site meeting this week that many farmers say "there's money in mud" - he reminded us that is not true if you're a civil contractor. The machines and workers have stopped momentarily for a well-earned rest while the site dries out a little after the much welcomed rain the past couple of days. The past fortnight of the school holiday break has been another constructive period with all topsoil stripped, clay fill being imported to site and spread over the soccer oval with some gypsum, just in time for the rain. The majority of the drainage works are now complete, including some branches to our college area to drain off some of the surface water. Laying of the electrical and communication conduits is about 50 percent complete and much of the upgrade works to the pump shed are well under way. We are sure next week will see a return to a busy construction site as we forge ahead to be ready for our targeted December sowing schedule.
