The Art Captains and I were so pleased with the response to the competition that we have decided to run another one before the end of this term. We felt that with the sun now shining (mostly) and the flowers beginning to bloom that an appropriate theme for this week is 'SPRINGTIME'.  There are some more details on how to enter and some tips for taking effective nature photography in the attachment below.

This competition will close at 4pm on Wednesday 9th September.

Heathmont Bollards

Over recent years we have been contacted by the Heathmont History Group and invited to submit work to decorate the bollards that line the shops at the Heathmont Shopping Strip. Gerry Robinson has again been in touch with me to extend the invitation to people within the community to design an image to grace one of the bollards and beautify the strip. Work can be submitted in a range of 2D formats - collage, drawing, painting, digital images and photography amongst them.

The history of this particular spot is filled with stories of the thriving Sharp's Orchards which stood proudly there for many years prior to the current shops. Therefore, the subject for any work should represent the fruit growing history - apples, cherries, pears, lemons were prominent crops. Here are some examples that our students submitted last year and are now proudly displayed on the bollards -

Anyone from our community can enter - parents, students, family members, friends and teachers included. For further information on how to register your interest, please contact me via Compass.

Student Gallery

Last week, students were asked to reflect on the work of Vincent Van Gogh, particularly focusing on his use of colour to create his revolutionary artworks The Bedroom and Cafe at Night. Here are some of the responses to the task ...
