Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

What a busy couple of weeks we’ve had.

Our WINNING cross country team represented themselves with real pride last week as they took part in the Inter School Cross Country Competition that took place at North Fremantle Primary School. Each of the team contributed to the winning total, which we congratulate each and every one of them for. We do, however, need to acknowledge the following students who placed in their events.

Meg in Year 3 for coming 2nd

Max in Year 3 for coming 1st

Gabe in Year 4 for coming 2nd

Elsa in Year 5 for coming 2nd

Ella in Year 5 for coming 1st

We need to thank Ms Foster and Mrs Wright who took the team along to run. We are incredibly proud of all our students. Congratulations to them all!

Room 9 presented us with their assembly item last week, which focused on Book Week as well as talking about the MS Readathon that we are supporting. Spike Milligan and Dr Seuss were the chosen authors they showcased. All students participated with enthusiasm; having learnt their words and all their actions. Many thanks to Mrs Rosman and Mrs Kitson, who helped students prepare so fabulously.

One of our school’s highlights took place last week; our annual Book Week Parade. So many students and staff members dressed up and told us who they were dressed as. It was wonderful to see many parents and family members join us in the undercover area. Harry Potter characters featured a lot as usual, but I think this was the first time we have had a flock of ducks or twin dinosaurs make an appearance. We all had our personal favourites; I wholeheartedly thank every member of our school community who took part. I wonder if we’ll have any parents dress up next year?

The children and staff are very busy preparing for another of our highlights of the year; the School Athletics Carnival. Throws and Jumps will be held on Tuesday 8 September with the main Athletics Carnival taking place on Thursday 10th September. We understand how important this is to our families, which is why we have opened up the event to families this year; some schools have asked families to stay away this year due to social distancing requirements. We welcome all human members to watch the carnival take place, but we do ask that families maintain safe social distances as you remain on Wood Street side of the oval. Following consultation and consideration, a decision has been made to alternate the running order of races on a year by year basis. This year, the boys will commence the running with the girls’ race ending the carnival.
