Principal's Report
by David Lord
Now that we have a probable date of 26th October for the return of year 8-10 students it is even more important than ever that students engage strongly in their online learning. We thank you again for you continued support and engagement in your child’s learning during this challenging time.
We have previously communicated some changes for online learning in term 4. Students will be given a week to complete their learning interactions for all subjects. They need to submit this work on time, by the due date, for their attendance to be marked as present. This is an important part in returning to following the school timetable and structures as we also prepare to return to face to face learning.
The College has a number of ways that students can engage with their learning to complete their learning interactions such as google meets with teachers, commenting and asking questions on google classroom, gmail communication for direct contact with teachers and feedback around student learning. We encourage students to continue to engage with these aspects and seek support when they need it.
To support students in their learning parents/guardians are able to sign up to receive a weekly guardian email. This email will give you an update on learning interactions that are overdue and any announcements made by teachers. If you would like to sign up to receive these emails please follow this link http://www.staughtoncollege.vic.edu.au/guardian-summaries/ and submit your details.
It is also important to note that student reporting will be based primarily on the learning students have shown in their learning interactions.
We are really excited to have students from Years 7,11 & 12 returning today. We are working hard to warmly welcome them back into the routines of school. We will be concentrating on student health and wellbeing and making sure we know where they are at in their learning.
In order to make sure students have a safe and successful return to school please take note of the following important information:
We ask parents to support student and school staff health and wellbeing:
In response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, all schools are required to implement minimum Child Safety Standards. At Staughton College, we hold the care, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school. We have fully implemented all of the standards, including a Child Safe Policy, and Code of Conduct. Both of these documents can be found on our website. I will be regularly reminding our school community of these policies as part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and wellbeing of the children in our care.

We, at Staughton College, would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is situated, of elders past and present. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits our school.
