I would like to wish all of our dads, grandfathers and father figures a very happy Father's Day on Sunday! Make sure you spoil them kids! To celebrate we are going to have our annual Dad's Joke competition (usually held at our breakfast). Please email your best joke to me abutts@smmooroopna.catholic.edu.au. Winner's announced on Sunday via our school app.
With only two more weeks of term, I'm hoping that the children will be back at school soon. I will let parents know any details of a return as soon as it comes through. Everyone is doing brilliantly - keep up the great work!
I am always astounded with the amazing art work students at St Mary's produce. Budd Haig in Gr 3 sent this piece of work to Mrs Wilson this week - a "paper cat"! Very funny Budd!
The 8th September marks the Feast of the Nativity of Mary - Mary's Birthday! We usually have a special mass and celebration at school, but this year the children will be completing some activities at home to mark this important day.
Thank you to parents and carers who are filling out the application for onsite supervision each week. It is sent out on a Wednesday and is required to be completed by Friday.
Our Principal, Anthony Butts, is currently undertaking a Summative Appraisal. This process incorporates a review of his leadership and identifies his achievements and areas for growth. A nominated panel of three, chaired by Jim Rolfe, will oversee the process. The appraisal will be conducted in appropriate consultation with the staff and parent community.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic the Gr 3/4 camps have been cancelled. All costs will be removed from school fees.
A reminder that assemblies will be on Monday afternoons during remote learning beginning at 12:30pm each week.
Catholic Education Victoria is asking families to complete a survey on remote learning. Please click here to take part in the survey.
Each Saturday, a video of Mons Peter celebrating the Sunday mass is emailed out to families and parishioners. Click below to view last week's mass:
Parents are doing a wonderful job listening to their children read. Click here for some reading prompts that will help with your child's reading sessions.

Week 7 Eva Van Eyk
Eva is a hard working student who gives everything her best. She never gives up and has a positive attitude at all times. Eva shows her kindness towards others in class prayer and is a joy to have in the class. Thank you and well done Eva!
Week 8 Tiarna Fichera
Tiarna has been a wonderful student at St Mary's ever since she started her first day of Prep. She is well organised, polite, responsible and acts on feedback from her teachers. Thank you Tiarna for being such an excellent role model at St Mary's!
Have a great weekend everyone.
