Sensory Club!

Jaime Clarke

Hi there! For those who don’t know me, I’m Jaime. I have two kids at BNWPS, one in Grade 2 and one in Grade 4. I’m a paediatric mental health nurse, currently doing a post grad in Child and Adolescent Mental Health. Before becoming a nurse at the Royal Children’s Hospital, I worked with children living with cancer and their families for many years. I feel very passionately that kids do well when they can, and believe strongly that all behaviour communicates a need.

I’d like to help our school provide the best support to our kids, and so I’ve offered to come into school 2-3 days a week to help in the wellbeing space. I’ll be hosting “Sensory Club” at recess and lunch times on Tuesday and Thursdays at this stage, and we have plans to set up an inclusive sensory room in the near future, for kids to visit when they need some quiet time to regulate and chat.

Please reach out via the office if you would like to chat to me at all, and if you happen to have any unused sensory items like slime, kinetic sand, etc, that you’d be happy to donate, we’d be thrilled to accept!
