A Message from

Hannah & Keir

We would like to acknowledge and honour the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation as the traditional custodians of the land on which our school stands. We pay our respects to all First Nations elders, past present, and emerging.

Camps Update

With the update to funding teachers time in lieu, we have started planning camps for our students in 3-6. Following the guidelines from the Department of Education, we will run two camps this year - one for our students in 3/4 and another for our students in 5/6; we hope that both camps will run for three days and two nights. Tom has been busy consulting with camp organisations and checking calendars, we will let everyone know about dates and locations once the camps have been confirmed.

Calling All Enrolments

Applications to enroll at Brunswick North West Primary School in 2024 are closing soon; all applications to enroll must be submitted by the end of July. Enrollment numbers are used when planning class structures and teacher teams for 2024, and the more accurate information that we have when making these decisions means that our plans can be accurate.

NAPLAN Reports

Individual NAPLAN Reports will be going home with students in years three and five today. NAPLAN is a national assessment to see how students' literacy and numeracy skills and understanding compare against national standards.

Please follow this link to access a pamphlet explaining how to read the NAPLAN student report, as well as answers to a number of frequently asked NAPLAN questions. As always, if you have any questions about your child's NAPLAN report, please contact your classroom teacher.

Class Reps Meeting

We will be having our next Class Rep meeting at 9am on Friday morning on the Sprout deck. All adult class representatives are invited to attend. We will discuss  upcoming school events including the Winter Magic Market, and how we can best support these through the Class Reps channels. If you are a class rep and are unable to attend, we will have another meeting after school on Monday 21st August.

Planning Week

Next week will be our planning week, where each team of teachers will  meet for a whole day to plan the next stages of Inquiry, Literacy and Numeracy learning. This means that we will have an altered timetable for the week, as all specialist classes will fall on the team’s planning day. Planning week also means that the classroom timetable for the week may be altered or look and feel a little different to a regular week.Planning days will run as follows;

Tuesday 1st August - Seniors

Wednesday 2nd August - Juniors

Thursday 3rd August - Middles

Friday 4th August - Foundies

If you have any questions about planning week, please contact your class teacher.

Winter Magic Market

Our Annual Winter Magic Market is a special event that brings our whole school community together for a moment of warmth, celebration, creativity and connection. As with any school community event, we could not have a Winter Magic Market without tremendous support from the community who volunteer their time, expertise and energy.

Many hands make light work, so we ask that everyone takes some time to check the WMM page of this newsletter and our future newsletters, to see how you and your family might be able to get involved.
