CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week we are continuing our learning on information reports, being able to identify the features and describe its structure. 


VOCABULARY

Information report: a text that shares facts about the topic.

Features: what the text includes.

Subheadings: tells us what the paragraph is about.

Diagrams: images with labels.

Captions: tells us about the picture.

Structure: what an explanation text is going to look like.  


ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

When your child reads at night, ask them to read a non fiction text. After reading, ask if they can identify and show you some of the features found in their book (contents page, sub headings, captions, facts, diagrams).
