Visual Arts- Mrs Garro
Over the past week, all students from The School of the Good Shepherd participated in a woodwork incursion presented by Anatoli from CraftPower. Students learned skills that support the construction unit in the Visual Arts curriculum. In Art, students have the opportunity to experiment with different materials, techniques, and processes to make a range of art forms.
I am so very proud of the work ethic shown by all of our students and the amount of effort they put into their work. Listening and following instructions and for many, doing something they had never done before. The preps created jewelry boxes, grade 1's airplanes, grade 2's houses, grade 3's clocks, grade 4's puppets, grade 5 billy carts, and grade 6's created sea life creatures. The real-life skills and experience students were able to use when working with saws, pillars, hammers, nails, etc during the incursion is definitely why I love being able to provide this opportunity for our school.
A big thank you to our teaching and LSO team for supporting the students and to the amazing parent helpers for their patience and enthusiasm in supporting our students also. Parents are always welcome to support the ARTS anytime. All woodwork will be decorated in Art classes over the next few weeks and displayed at our SOGS ARTS celebration in November.
