Faith Life Inquiry

Caith Malone

School Parish Collaboration

Last Tuesday, after the Mary Mackillop’s Feast Day Mass, our Year 2 students hosted a beautiful morning tea for some of our Parishioners. The students were able to meet their special parishioner and ask them some wonderful questions about their lives; about life in the past and how life has changed, especially around Gladstone Park. This was the most beautiful and rewarding experience for everyone involved. The students were so mature and well prepared and they had obviously spent a great deal of time preparing their interview questions and rehearsing their speaking and listening skills.

Our wonderful parishioners loved telling the students about their lives and helping the students learn about the past. This was a perfect example of Faith Life Inquiry learning coming to life in a very real way. We are very grateful to the wonderful parishioners involved in this activity and we hope to look for more ways to connect with people from our parish and local area.

Our Catholic faith calls us to reach out to others in real and tangible ways and by doing this we develop our Catholic Identity. Who we are in the world is our Identity. Jesus gave us many examples of this by the way he treated all those he encountered. He spent time with them and was able to forge relationships with others by stopping and listening with his heart.

A special thank you to our wonderful Year 2 teachers, Maria and Amelia, and our co-educators, Jade and Dani, for making this event happen. Thank you also to all the generous morning tea donations provided by families.

Parish School Masses

We celebrated two beautiful Parish/ School Masses this week. The feast of St Mary of the Cross Mackillop and the Feast of the Assumption of the blessed Virgin Mary. We are so blessed to be able to come together as a faith community and express our faith and beliefs in such a beautiful way. Thanks to everyone who could attend and to everyone who participated in any way.

Please remember that learning is a partnership between school and home and Faith Education is always best when families take the lead in handing on the faith.

The National Catholic Education Commission has produced a wonderful document for families which I will link below.

I warmly invite you to have a read of this document.

The family is a proclamation of faith in that it is the natural place in which faith can be lived in a simple and spontaneous manner. It has a unique privilege: transmitting the Gospel by rooting it in the context of profound human values.

Take care and God bless,

We pray together for all our Families and for families everywhere.

Prayer to the Holy Family

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, in you we contemplate the splendour of true love;

to you we turn with trust.

Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that our families too may be places of communion and prayer, authentic schools of the Gospel and small domestic churches.

Holy Family of Nazareth, may families never again experience violence, rejection and division;

may all who have been hurt or scandalized find ready comfort and healing.

Holy Family of Nazareth, make us once more mindful of the sacredness and inviolability of the family, and its beauty in God’s plan.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph,

Graciously hear our prayer.

Amen

Prayer from Amoris Laetitia
