3D PRINTER
The Library’s 3D printer is proving very popular. It can be used:
- During class time by a teacher booking their whole class or groups of students to use it;
- As a makerspace (a creative space) activity at lunchtimes and before school, called STEM it!;
- To create STEM/STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, [the Arts], and Maths) projects;
- By students to watch their creations appear before their eyes, and;
- For endless possibilities.
So far, it has been used to:
- Create a replica of a 1920’s Model T-Ford to introduce The Great Gatsby era to students;
- Build a Viking ship as a model for students to look at;
- Make some moulds for Mr. Townsend’s home economics class to imprint ‘Mooroopna’ into their chocolate bars;
- Produce 3D puzzles for students to play with at lunchtimes, and;
- Make creations by students who have booked with Library staff to use it before school and at lunchtimes.
