student comment;

The cardboard challenge at Cranbourne west was a new experience for Lyndhurst Secondary College. I found it really exiting because we got to experience new things and compete against other schools. My favourite thing was having friendly competition and playing the other games they created!  - Shelbie Males 7A

After the awards ceremony and a brief lunch students were able to buy books, speak with the authors and get their books signed. Our students were very pleased to be meeting the likes of Terry Denton, Andy Lee, Jacqueline Harvey, Heath Mckenzie, Anna Ciddor and Felice Arena to name just a few of the many authors present. Students were selected on their participation in the Premiers’ Reading Challenge and one could see how excited by books and reading this 20 students are.

Melbourne University Excursion

On Thursday 24th October,  Year 11 Physics students visited Melbourne University to see the ‘Endeavour Exhibition’.  The Endeavour Exhibition showcases over 140 engineering and IT projects designed and developed by final year Melbourne University students, and offered our students a great opportunity to immerse themselves in the different branches of engineering.

After wandering through the beautiful and historic grounds, we arrived at South Lawn to view the exhibition.  Our students were engaged in the projects that were on display such as the Advanced Lower-Extremity Exoskeleton (ALEX) and MUR motorsports racing car.

They were able to consolidate their understanding of Physics concepts by asking questions. As a Teacher at Lyndhurst, I was proud of some of their intelligent observations made during the visit. Melbourne University students were also impressed with our students ability to think deeply and articulate their thoughts.

On the way home on the train, we all discussed our favourite projects and voted on the ‘Pocket CPR guidance device’ as the winner. This project involved developing a pocket CPR guidance device that can be used to monitor the quality of CPR being performed on a person with cardiac arrest.

It was great to be in the City to soak up the unique vibe of campus life whilst enjoying the sunshine and the surroundings.
