Weekly Wellbeing

Over the past week Cheyenne and I have had the privilege of connecting with students, parents and staff to help students to gain insight into their worlds, come up with ideas that will work for them and support them to implement their strategies.  It has been so great to see some students moving from a fixed mindset (I can’t change!) to a growth mindset (with effort, change is possible!).

Developing fixed and growth mindsets were the key focus in Edwina Ricci’s recent staff and parent presentations on Positive Education.  Cheyenne and I were blown away at the attendance at the parent session and are so looking forward to continuing to partner with staff, students and parents to ensure that we all learn to develop growth mindsets.

We are still enjoying setting up the Wellbeing Space and recently introduced the ‘Kindness Corner’.  The idea is that any student who visits the Wellbeing Space has an opportunity to write a kind word or draw a picture and place it in the ‘Kindness box’.  They also have an opportunity to take an encouragement (that has been written by another student) out of the ‘Kindness box’.  The thinking behind this is that no matter who we are, we can all be kind and love being encouraged.  Being kind makes both us and the receiver feel good.  We look forward to the ‘Kindness box’ being full of encouragements for any student who visits.  Parents are welcome to participate too!

Did you know that…

Gratitude and resentment cannot exist together?
