Measurement - how tall is Super Phil?!

Year 2 kicked off their measurement unit this week with bit of a brain teaser! The challenge was to find the height of the Year 2 teachers using formal or informal units of measurement. Some students used rulers, while others used unifix or their hands and feet to measure. The only bit of information students were given, was the photo! At first, they didn't know where to start! Then a few students figured out they could measure the height of their own teacher and then estimate the height of the other teachers after that. Some of them even estimated the height of the coffee cup that Phil was holding and the tree in the background. We are excited for the next few weeks with measurement, area and perimeter to come!

Reconciliation Week and Sorry Day

We have been having some great conversations, creating cool art and listening to incredible stories. It has helped them understand the tough challenges faced by Indigenous people. Together, we celebrated Sorry Day to show respect for past, bring healing and build bridges towards a future where everyone is treated fairly.
