Italian News

Bronwynne Jones

You might have heard a lot of chiacchiericcio (chatter) coming from the Italian room lately - it’s the sound of Year 3 students who have been brushing up on their interviewing skills in Italian. They have also written and illustrated a page for their class book based on “Veloce come un grillo” (As Quick as a Cricket), using adjectives and animals to describe themselves in Italian.

In Year 4, students are learning how to share information about how they spend a typical day and are having fun using their whiteboards and iPads to practise telling and showing the time in Italiano.

The Year 5 students are studying la casa e il quartiere (the house and neighbourhood) and have been drawing floor plans of their own homes which are looking impressive!

Students in Year 6 are now experts at conjugating simple verbs and are applying their new skills to their project about what their likes and dislikes and what they do in their free time.

We are looking forward to welcoming the three teachers from Willetton SHS who are here on exchange from Italy and will be visiting our Year 6 classes on Friday to chat with them about life in Italy as well as what language learning is like at high school.

Buon lavoro!
