Room 23

The students from Room 23 have thoroughly enjoyed creating and then writing a story about a new Mr Men or Little Miss character. The creativity was amazing! Learning about Dynamic Dialogue has been another important part of our English program recently.  In Maths, we have been constructing 3D objects and experimenting with different-sized cubes as well as learning new card games. We are using the four operations in our latest card game, 5 in a Row. We all enjoyed using line, colour, and depth in our Art pictures which turned out beautifully!

Room 24

We had our Assembly and Open Classroom this term! It was a huge success and we are all still humming along to our Australia song at all times of night and day. It was lovely to show our parents and loved ones all of our amazing work. We have been learning some mental addition techniques to help us with our mental maths. Some flexible furniture has arrived and we have loved writing on our new C-shaped group desk. We have been learning how to summarise texts and have almost mastered it! Every day we manage to find 5-10 minutes to practise mindfulness. It is a great way to calm down and help us to focus throughout the day.

National Simultaneous Storytelling Day

On Wednesday, 24th of May our class celebrated National Simultaneous Storytelling Day. This year the chosen book was The Speedy Sloth by Rebecca Young and Heath McKenzie. We love it! It was about always trying our best, never giving up, and encouraging our peers. We were very excited to have the author of this text read live to us online from the Sydney Zoo. Over 2 million people read this book on the same day! Our class designated this day to all activities related to the text, including a directed drawing of our own sloth.

Green Screens

As part of our digital technologies unit, we have begun learning how to use green screens. We had lots of fun integrating it into Maths recently and we are excited to use the green screens more often.

Buddy Class

This term we met with our Buddy Class for the first time. Most of us haven’t had a Buddy Class before so we were both excited and nervous. Our buddies wrote and designed their own picture books to read to us. We loved it and they even gave us some tips and tricks for us to write our own narrative stories!
