From the   Principal's

Janine Kinninment

It was wonderful to see the fine motor skills of sewing of Room 14 Pre-Primary students recently. I’m sure you will agree from the photo there were a lot of happy Mums who received a present they will treasure for years to come.

Cross Country

Next week is our Cross Country Carnival for Year 3 to Year 6 students.  The event is planned for Thursday 8th June in the morning. With the wet weather forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, then light showers for Thursday, we are hopeful this event can take place as planned.  Mrs Bain and Mr Ellis have been coordinating the Cross Country.  They have recommended students bring a change of clothes on the day in case there are light showers during the event. I look forward to seeing as many parents/carers at the cross country as possible. If the forecast for Thursday changes, we will notify the school community on Tuesday of the alternative date.

Slam Basketball Competition

It was fabulous seeing so many Year 3 and Year 4 students trying out for our Year 3 and Year 4 basketball competition yesterday.  From all these students 12 boys and 12 girls were selected for tryouts again today. Congratulations to the students who made the final selection.

Parent Teacher Interviews

A reminder that parent/teacher interviews are scheduled for the last week of this term.  Burrendah has a half-day close from 12 noon on Wednesday 28th June.  Mr Bradshaw will be sending out the interview schedule and more information in the coming weeks. Camp Australia will have after school care available from 12 noon on this day.

Please note that Year 3 to Year 6 physical education will be reported on at the end of the year as there have been a number of teachers in this role in Semester 1. Please book an interview with either Mrs Bain or Mr Ellis for your child’s physical education progress as part of the parent interviews if you want further information for this learning area.

NAIDOC Assembly

Aunty Betty, an Aboriginal elder, will be a special guest at our NAIDOC Assembly on Friday 30th June.  Mrs Clark is coordinating this assembly and will provide more information on her return from leave from Wednesday 21st June.  The assembly is also recognising the importance of older people in our community such as grandparents.  We hope to see as many of our grandparents as possible join us for our NAIDOC Assembly.

UCA

The naming for the new undercover area is well underway with many suggestions being provided for consideration to Room 28.  The top 9 names will be provided to the Board for their meeting next week.  The Board will select 3 names for the community to vote on.  The top vote will become the name for the new undercover area and will be announced at the NAIDOC Assembly.

I am hopeful that PC will be provided in the coming days for our new building.  The next step is the occupancy process.  As you can see from the photos below the new short court and garden as part of the new build are looking fabulous.
