First Aid 2023

Updates

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools  (MACS) have updated procedures for First Aid Management. Students with health conditions require specific forms/plans that need to be filled in.

Unfortunately schools are no longer able to administer any medications unless they are accompanied by a Medication Authority Form signed by a registered practitioner. These forms can be download from our website or collected from the office. Medication must be in its original packaging, including your child’s name and clear directions of dosage.  The medication must be handed into a the office and handed to an administration staff member. For those students who have an Action Care plan for a certain health condition you are exempt from this form.

Winter Season

Winter season is upon us and there are many viruses spreading around. If your child is unwell please keep them home until fully recovered. With regards to gastro or any vomiting/diarrhoea your child must stay home for at least 24 hours following their last vomit.

Asthma

Students diagnosed with Asthma should follow the Asthma Management Plan determined by their doctor.

As parents and carers, you are able to access your child’s Operoo medical profile and update this when changes occur.  This is the schools main source of medical information, it is extremely important that your child's information is up to date especially before camps and excursions.

Please make sure emergency contacts are up to date, that the nominated person(s) are willing and able to be contacted.  It is imperative that all medications are within used by dates. Could you please take the time to contact the office and check your child's Ventolin has not expired.

Ideal Asthma Action Plan is below, you can download a form from https://asthma.org.au for your treating doctor to complete. Please make sure you have a current photo of your child on the plan.

As always we thank you for your help and we appreciate your help in insuring our students are kept well.
