Term 2

What a busy and quick term we have had with cross country, multiple interschool sporting competitions, write off and camps! With only 3 weeks of this term and semester left everyone is busy getting learning tasks completed, studying of exams and finishing off any over due tasks. It can be a stressful and overwhelming time for some students so please make sure you are being kind to yourself. Take time out when you need and try and find moments to relax and unwind. Also staying active can be helpful to de-stress whether it’s just taking a walk, riding a bike or dancing to your favourite song. The cold and chilly weather can make it hard to feel motivated to get outdoors and moving but even 15 minutes a day can be beneficial not just for your physical health but your mental health too.

Here are the Wellbeing Team’s top Winter Wellness tips:

MadsTea Time in the Sunshine:

-   Make your favourite hot drink (mine is English breakfast tea with honey and lemon slices)

-   Comfiest slippers or socks

-   Grab a blanket, picnic rug, robe or hoodie

-   Find a quiet place in the sunshine

-   Close your eyes and focus on taking slow calm inhales     and exhales

-   Listen to the world around you

Danni Time to stretch:

  • Stand up – gently turn your head to the right and hold – then turn your head to the left and hold – then return to the centre.
  • Now raise both arms up to the sky and stretch up high – lower your arms to be level with your shoulders – now twist your waist to the right slightly while holding your arms out and hold – then twist to the left side and hold.

Tamara Challenge the winter blues:

  • Name something you are grateful for; someone you appreciate, a positive personal trait and something you love about yourself!
  •

JoFinding a balance

  • Pop on your favourite beanie, rug up and go for a brisk walk in the sunshine
  • Go to a yoga/pilates class or do one online
  • But on the days when the world seems too much put on your comfy clothes or stay in your pj’s, grab a blanket, jump on the couch and watch your favourite movie or series – treat yourself to your favourite snack food (mine is triple buttered microwave popcorn)
