Teaching and Learning in 4C

Term 2 has been a fun and busy time so far in 4C! After our fantastic experiences at camp, the students undertook a maths project which involved them creating their own camp site on grid paper. The students learnt about the things that need to be included on a map, such as grid references, compass, scale and legend. After creating their camp maps, the students calculated the perimeter and area of some of the facilities on their maps. They also created a list of directions using the map’s grid references, compass and scale, to lead people from one activity to another at their camp.

In Writing, students also used their camp experiences to create a comic strip as part of our narrative unit, with a focus on dialogue. The students loved recounting one of their camp highlights in cartoon form. Everyone produced fantastic pieces of work!

During our LPS Open Morning, the students participated in Simultaneous Storytime and listened to Mr Moorhouse read ‘The Speedy Sloth’. After a discussion about the book and its theme of perseverance, the students created their own sloth with a message about what they believe perseverance is. Thank you to everyone who popped in for Open Morning and joined in the fun!

Well done to 4C for meeting our class expectations of working hard and having fun!
