Week  8  Term 3

Visual Art

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads and father-figures in our community!

Here's some of the thoughtful and creative pieces that the students have worked hard on over the past few weeks to gift to their Dads this weekend.

Prep students enjoyed thinking about the features of their Dad and using dyed pasta to create a framed portrait.

Grade 1 students observed fruits and vegetables and used paint pens to decorate a pot that was then filled with soil and tomato seeds.

Grade 2 students drew designs and illustrations for their Dads on a wooden tree round. They then used a drill to make a hole and turn it into a keyring!

Grade 3 students enjoyed placing nail polish in a tub of water and dipped their mug in and out to reveal the marbled effect you see below. Perfect for a warm cuppa in bed on Father's Day morning!

District Athletics Day

Selected students from Levels 4-6 competed in the District Athletics Carnival on Thursday 1st September at Bill Sewart Reserve. Regardless of finishing position, everyone did a great job, competing their hardest with a big smile on their face. As a school, we did exceptionally well, finishing 3rd in the field events and 5th overall.

A big congratulations to all of our students who have qualified to compete in the Division Athletics Carnival on October 6. We cannot wait to hear how you go.

Team Vic Netball Finals

Our Grade 5/6 Girls Netball Team competed in the Team Vic Netball Championship Finals at the State Netball and Hockey Centre on Wednesday 31st August. It was an outstanding achievement to make it this far. They tried their best against some really strong teams from other schools and, from all accounts, had a wonderful day. Well done to Lucy, Poppy, Maya, Islah, Gracie, Maggie, Charly, Zoe and Marlea for working together so well as a team. You should be really proud of everything you achieved this year! Many thanks to Clare and our wonderful parents who assisted the girls with transport and organisation on the day.

NETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

On Wednesday the 31st of August, 9 girls from grades 5 and 6; Zoe B, Maggie, Lucy, Maya, Poppy, Islah, Marlea, Charly and Grace went to compete against other schools at The State Netball Centre.

We played extremely well and ended up finishing 4th on the day. We worked really well as a team and encouraged each other right to the end.

A big thank you to Melissa Martinov who took a day off work to coach us. Her positivity was amazing, and we couldn’t be more grateful of what she did to help us. Thanks Mel!. It was an experience for us all, and one we will never forget.
