Grade 5 & 6

We have been very busy in the senior school. There is never a dull moment up here! Some of the exciting events of the past few weeks are:

CBL

Students greatly enjoyed participating in workshops learning about 'Country'. Recently, they chose an area of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to learn more about. They spent 2 weeks planning and researching their presentation, culminating in a Grade 5/6 expo. Students showcased their new work and moved across all classrooms to share their new knowledge. Examples of some of this wonderful learning is below:

TRISTAN BANCKS

Throughout this Term students in Grade 6 have been working in a program with Apple and children's author, Tristan Bancks, called Story School. Students generated a new creative text by using some of Tristan's creative methods involving imagery, music and digital technology. Students crafted their stories over several weeks and created a front cover and trailer for the book. The finished products are amazing and are now proudly hanging in the Grade 6 classrooms, ready to be read. Some of the captivating covers and titles are in the images below.

BUDDY BAGS

The Grade 5 students are excitedly looking forward to meeting their Prep buddies later in the year. They have been working hard on creating a special gift to give them. Examples of the creations the students are making include 'A-Z' alphabet books, games to play with each other, activity books and letters.
