Grade 3 & 4

Down the hill in 3/4 we have had a fantastic term filled with new adventures and lots of personal growth.

Camp

We had the most wonderful few days away at Camp Weekaway with our Grade 3/4 Community. The camp was packed with exciting activities, with highlights including the flying fox, crate stack and canoes. The teachers absolutely loved getting to know students from different classes and feel like our buckets have been filled with the new friendships we have made. We were so very proud of everyone for their resilience and never ending positivity on their first school camp.

✨ Writing

During Writing sessions, we have been focussing on how to convey an author's voice through our writing. This always starts with inspiration! We have loved using great stories as a launch for our own ideas. Lately, we have been inspired by our friend GI Jane from Camp Weekaway and the stories the students created on camp, as well as the beautiful story, 'Desert Lake'.

In Desert Lake,  Pamela Freeman describes Lake Eyre in rich detail, and accompanies these descriptions with facts. We have been creating our own stories about our special places - including Wonga Park Primary School, Mount Lofty, the local cafe and even Antarctica. Students have been learning how to create a meaningful plan for writing through collecting images for inspiration, and researching for relevant facts. We are very excited to put all of these elements together to create published pieces.
