Wellbeing Report

Early Help Program is up and running here at Echuca Twin Rivers School 2 days a week on Mondays and Thursdays. Kristy Beaumont is the Anglicare Early Help Practitioner who is based onsite between the hours of 8:30 – 4:30 in the afternoon. Kristy is able to offer up to 10 hours of support to families who are needing some extra support around parenting, housing, family routines or any other supports that are needed. It is great to have Kristy and her expertise right here at our school.

Our Tier 2 small intervention groups are well underway. Under the guidance of our OT and Speech Therapist we have SPAides operating in Grade 1/2 with 3 sessions per fortnight and the social competencies program Talk About operating in the 5/6 area twice a week. Our ES staff are delivering this program to our students and this has been a great way to upskill our ES staff and will also allow for these programs to be sustainable into the future. Laura our Speech Therapist will be finishing up at the end of term and will be replaced by Elaine Atley. Pip Inglis was been appointed to the OT role that remained unfilled last term. We’d like warmly welcome Pip and Elaine and wish Laura every success with her new appointment.

Sexuality Education / Personal Health Unit has commenced in the Grade 5/6 area and this will continue until the end of term. Information about this has been communicated on Class Dojo.

Attitudes to School Survey results have returned with a strong upward trend in most areas. Our key targets in our 2022 Annual Implementation Plan focused on improving the following areas resulting in 2 out of 3 areas meeting or exceeding the target.

Goal Focus 2021 2022
Student Voice and Agency

69%

70% (AIP Goal 74%)
Stimulated Learning

81%

84% (AIP Goal 84%)
Sense of Connectedness

70%

79% ( AIP Goal 74%)
Observations from the data:
  • Collectively Grade 4 respondents were very positive about their schooling experience.
  • Grade 5 responses were lower than expected. The Grade 5 girls’ responses were much lower than expected in many areas, in particular, school connectedness, perseverance and motivation. This will be explored further with this cohort of students to gain greater insight into their responses.
  • Grade 6 responses were higher than expected in most areas.
  • Our future focus will be on the transitions from Grade 4 – Grade 5.

School Wide Positive Behaviour Update (SWPBS)

Staff and students have worked together to streamline the Wally Reward System to make it easier for staff to track and record information, as well as for students to take their rewards. Draft documents were shared with staff and students and then feedback was received from staff and students, and a presentation was made at assembly about the changes.

And ( drumroll please) ................here it is!!

We now include all the positive data into our fortnightly assemblies with a focus on those. individuals  who have recorded the most positives in each year level for the fortnight period. We are also having a cumulative tally of positives for each of the houses that are shared at assembly each fortnight too. Then at the end of the term, the students with the highest number of positives and the house with the highest number of positives at the end of the term are warmly rewarded with something special.

Anglicare Early Help Family Services Pilot Program

Our school alongside the Echuca Twin Rivers Specialist School is very privileged to be part of a new pilot program that aims to support our community and their families. The Anglicare Early Help Family Services Program will be working onsite at our school up to 2 days a week to support our families and our staff with a range of services and programs. Kristy Beaumont is the practitioner who has been appointed to the role.

The aim of this program is to support young people and their families liaise between school, family, community and external parties, supporting students with transition from primary to secondary school, support student attendance and involvement at school, provide parent support and educational group sessions along with teacher information sessions too. We are very excited to be part of this pilot with only 3 other schools in the state being offered the opportunity.

Welcome Pip, our new ETRS Occupational Therapist

We'd like to warmly welcome our new Occupational Therapist Pip Inglis who will be working alongside our speech therapist Laura Kerlin. Pip works on Tuesdays and Thursdays and supports our Tier 2 intervention groups. We employ Laura and Pip using the new Disability Inclusion Tier 2 Supplementary Funding.

Tier 2 Intervention Groups

This week we launched our Tier 2 intervention groups across the school. We now offer selected students in Grade 1/2 SPAIDES. This is a small group intensive speech program overseen by our speech therapist Laura and implemented by our trained Education Support (ES) staff. Using our data, these students have been identified as needing some extra support. We also have launched the Social Emotional Learning Groups (SEL) for students who are requiring further support in this area overseen by our OT Pip and also implemented by our Education Support Staff twice weekly.

Wellbeing Vision

Over the last term we have been establishing a vision for wellbeing at ETRS. This included parents, students and staff completing a survey about what they hoped for when our students graduated from Grade 6.

After collating all the responses and seeking feedback from our staff and Student Leadership Group we have developed a vision for wellbeing at Echuca Twin Rivers School.

Here it is..............

Students at Echuca Twin Rivers School will continue to uphold our school values as they progress through life in being Respectful, Resilient, Inclusive and Responsible leaders. They will demonstrate personal qualities including gratitude, kindness, bravery and confidence.
