From the Principal's desk 

Wow, what a busy few weeks we have had! Bookweek, Robotics incursion, Athletics Day, Father's Day breakfast, the completion of our indigenous mural and also just loads of great learning! In all these activities, our school values have been clearly visible and on display. We have hosted visitors from other schools who have come to observe our Mathematics teaching, and they have commented on our orderly teaching environment and student engagement in mathematics. We have been identified as a school of Influence in the teaching of mathematics, so a huge shout-out to our wonderful classroom teachers for all the preparation and creativity they put into their lessons.

This week we received our Naplan results which will be sent home early next week. Our participation was lower than in other years as there were quite a few students ill at this time. So if your child does not have a result for one of the tests, it is because they were absent when the test or catchup was scheduled. Initial analysis of data shows that in Year 3, we have dropped slightly below 'like' schools in Reading and Spelling, are similar to 'like' schools in Writing,  and above 'like' schools in Numeracy and Grammar and Punctuation.

In Year 5, we are slightly below 'like' schools in Reading, similar to 'like' schools in Numeracy, and above 'like' schools in Writing, Spelling and Grammar and Punctuation. This was the first year that we did our Naplan testing online. In 2023 Naplan testing will take place earlier in March.

Recently we have had a few new families take up the option of using TheirCare for before or after-school care, which is great.  Unfortunately, there were not enough families registered with TheirCare that indicated in a survey they would use vacation care during this term break, hence it is not running during these holidays. I would really like to encourage families to register with TheirCare, even if you don't use it initially, as it is a handy backup if you are running early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Also, if you think you may be interested in using vacation care during the next holiday break, register now - so you receive the survey and we can get it up and running!
