Mangrove Warrior cake sale - over $345 raised to help protect the Little Penguin!

Huge congratulations are in order for the Mangrove Warriors who ran a successful campaign and cake sale to raise money for the Little Penguin on Friday 19th August. The Little Penguin is a much-loved Australian icon and the smallest species of penguin on Earth, and Phillip Island is home to the largest colony of them in Australia.

Unfortunately, penguins are one of the most endangered groups of seabirds in the world with 60% of species being classified as threatened, and the Little Penguins on Phillip Island are decreasing in number for reasons that aren’t clear. The cake sale raised a whopping $345.20 to fund research and help protect this beautiful species on Phillip Island.

We are so thankful to the whole school community for supporting the sale, the families of the Mangrove Warriors and other staff who helped bake all the wonderful cakes and biscuits, and the Mangrove Warrior team for their efforts over the last few weeks preparing for the sale, including the research, planning, assembly, and posters. Well done all! It so exciting to support such an important cause.
