Principal's Message

Congratulations and celebrate!

St. Joseph’s received an outstanding result in our recent school review. Our school has received ratings in the top two bands of the MACS School Improvement Framework in the majority of areas. We are so proud of all that we are achieving in our school and equally have some clear goals we will be working towards moving forward. We thank Kylie Graham, our school reviewer, for her thorough and highly professional review process.

Here is a snippet from our reviewer:

St Joseph’s School has made significant progress in working towards achieving the priorities outlined in its last school review. It has successfully focused on creating a learning environment where the dignity of each student is central to all decision making. There is a shared responsibility of leadership, cultivating a love of learning in students and providing professional growth for all staff. Offering a wide and diverse range of ways for students to engage with their learning has been a priority which has allowed students to interact richly with their local environment and community.

I will share more information throughout the year to ensure all of our community are involved in the co-creation of our next school improvement plan.

We have a wonderful school here at St Joseph’s Crib Point and I am so proud to be the Principal leading all decisions in our school and am passionate and committed to taking St Joseph’s to even greater heights. The learning environment we have all created together is something very special and we are proud of all that we provide to ensure the full flourishing of every student in our school.  I take this opportunity to congratulate all of our wonderful staff and community.

Flourishing learners through STEM

One example of school excellence is in the area of STEM in our school. We are achieving outstanding results in this area and are watching so many examples of exemplary practise across the school. This includes our student led Cafe, our Sea is our Best Friend project, the Bunjl nest living communities project and our Making Moments Matter theme in our Foundation learning community. Every student across our school has the opportunity to flourish in the area of STEM. We have STEM club on a Monday after school and also our STEM discovery room is open two lunch times each week.

I invite you all to come along to our Maths expo this Wednesday from 2.45- 4.15pm to see our learning in action.

Dr Simon Lindsay, General Manager, Improved Learning Outcomes, at Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) outlined recently in the Directors News that STEM is one of the four themes within the new MACS strategic plan, MACS 2030:Forming Lives to Enrich the World, is ‘FlourishingLearners’ (2022a, p. 6), which supports the MACS vision that, ‘Every student is inspired and enabled to flourish and enrich the world’ (p. 3).

We are so proud of all we are achieving in this most important area of the curriculum.

Book Day

What a wonderful positive day last Friday was here at St Joseph’s. It was oozing with fun, laughter and positive relationships. Our positive psychology framework was in action across so many areas. Student leaders led house spirit activities and students, teachers and parents had a wonderful day together. Thank you to Kaycee Jackson for her wonderful leadership in the area of house spirit.

Marketing and promotion

It is that time of the year again where we ask all of our parents to promote our wonderful school to any interested and potential families. Please let them know all of the wonderful things we are achieving in our school. Also promote we that we are a inclusive community where all families are welcome and we have a concessional fee policy for all health care recipients and any families suffering financial hardship.

We have a referral incentive at the moment. If you refer a family to the school and they enrol both you and the new family will receive a $250 discount off your 2023 fees.

Please follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see all of the amazing things that are happening in our school.

Yours in Partnership,

Gab
